I am waiting to collaborate with Scott for the two MAJOR stories I have left, with some pictures available for the 2nd one, since I want to get the story right, so here are some more movie reviews to pass the time.

No Country For Old Men - Wow, what a movie. My dad didn't like the ending, but I didn't really expect him to, he's more into just the plot, not into movies that make you think. Not to take away from him or anything, but I love movies like this. This is really a great PICTURE, and probably one of the best movies I've seen in theaters. The theme is something I can relate to, even at a young age. I enjoyed it, and would highly recommend it.
Charlie Wilson's War - Both serious and funny, this movie doesn't really seem to figure out which it wanted to be, but it was good at both. The war sequences are beyond laughable however, which I just couldn't even understand. Not too bad, better than I would have thought, and for free and seeing it with relatives, a good experience. Also, SYG was playing over the intercom in NACOGDOCHES, TX. My grandpa and dad didn't really care for them...
Phone Booth - Not bad, but I think SAW did a better job of the moral of the story, if you can believe that. Decent rental I guess.
Pale Rider - Weak western, weak Eastwood movie.
Yojimbo - Samurai movie that A Fistfull of Dollars was based on. Not bad, obviously not quality cinematography, and Scott made fun of me for watching this. Oh well.
Chinatown - Awesome movie, maybe Nicholson's best acting? The writing on this was great, it just kept developing and developing. The ending was a little weak, but still, great stuff.
Also, the b9 had a thread with sendspace links for Pitchfork's top 100 albums of the year, and top 100 60's songs...time to clear out some memory space, or get a new external harddrive I guess

The Intranetz
Out of nowhere just now, Will informed Scott and I that he and Ryan had signed me up on eHarmony.com. Not only that, but they found me a match, a 5'6 Hispanic girl (that's a must), who drinks once a week and is not religious or spiritual. He's in the living room right now messaging her and trying to get a picture of her, since you have to pay to see it on the site or something. I'm sure there will be updates to follow...
Also, Harsh Truth Fanzine #1 is finally out, first press is 50 copies. It's not too bad, glad it's finally out, and the second issue will be even better.

Alright, so here's the big update. So sometime early this afternoon, I forget when exactly, I'm in the room with Scott and I say I'm going to take a shower, since I hadn't taken on last night or this morning, and one a day is the minimum. He was like "ahh" cause he said he was about to take one, but I didn't care and told him to take one later, you snooze you lose.
So I'm in there, and I turn the water on to get hot, and sit on the toilet to do my business. He then tries to get in. What I mean by that is that Scott is a sneaky dude, and has found a way to get into the restroom even though it is locked, he can somehow open it anyway. I haven't tried to find out how he does it, but I probably should. So to continue, he tries that twice, and obviously I'm a little weirded out by that. So I get into the shower, nice and hot right, and I'm lathering up some shampoo on my huge nest of hair. The next thing I know, ice cold water is being thrown on my person. I yell, probably like a little girl, and jump out of the way, as chocolate syrup comes pouring out of nowhere, and somehow the shower curtain comes down. Scott had opened up the door, and enlisted Ryan and Will, who had wielded the syrup, in a ambush attempt on myself. So there I am, freezing, standing there with no curtain up, and syrup all on my head, even though I had missed most of it. Turns out Will had also gotten it on the ceiling and toilet somehow?
We take some pictures, they get out, I continue taking my shower and am laughing about it, when some pasta sauce of Scott's that I swear has been in the refrigerator for at least a month comes flying over the curtain and hits me. So I got to completely redo my shower routine, plus the wall was covered. Unfortunately we didn't get any pictures of that, but it looked like a garbage disposal had just chunked all of its contents onto the shower walls. It also made the room smell terrible, and we had the fans running the entire afternoon. In addition, the curtain is even more messed up than it was previously. After the sauce, I showered the rest of the time with the curtain halfway open. I will never feel safe ever again. Are there no personal privacy havens left in this world? Is nothing sacred?

Intermission
So I will be posting a pretty good story, this time something that just happened to me, later on tonight, but right now I'm just gonna review some movies that I've watched over this semester using Netflix. Unfortunately, it doesn't have a list of movies I've previously viewed, so I'm going to have to go by memory.
Tess - Based on the book Tess of the D'Urbervilles, by Thomas Hardy, which I read in high school, so I decided to pick it up. It clocked in at over 3 hours, since it is an exact copy of the book, so I only skimmed through it. Not too bad, but even I couldn't put up with the length.
Ran - Samurai version of Macbeth, apparently directed by a famous Japanese director, not too bad, obviously a good story.
EDIT: It is actually King Lear, but I did just add the Japanese version of Macbeth to my queue, Throne of Blood...can't wait!
If Only - Major selling point here...Jennifer Love Hewitt is banging in this movie. Explores the theme of what it really means to love somebody, and if you got a second chance, would you really love them if you didn't before? The story is a little unbelievable, but I'm a sucker for cheesy romances I guess. Not that bad of a pick.
Annie Hall - Always been meaning to pick this up, and thankfully I finally did. This movie paints a great picture of a normal romance, plus Allen's humor is pretty refreshing.
Blade Runner - Saw this when I was a kid when my dad watched it, but couldn't really remember what it was about, so I added it to my queue. Not that great of a story, but the setting and mood is awesome, plus you can't really go wrong with Harrison Ford.
Breathless - I doubt anyone I know would really like this, but it's a French new wave film about a French criminal running from the law who stops in Paris to try to get an American woman to flee with him to Italy. It is pretty different when compared to normal movies, but I liked it for what it was, more of an art film than a standard movie.
Cold Mountain - Great story involving the Civil War. I always like movies that paint a picture, not just tell a story, and I thought this movie did a good job.
Mozart and the Whale - A pretty original story here, it's about a guy and girl who both have Asperger's Syndrome, and how they cope with it. Josh Hartnett actually does a great job of acting here. I really liked this one.
On the Waterfront - I coulda been a contender! Need I say more? Brando at his best, probably better than The Godfather. Great story about a dockworker standing up to the mob
28 Weeks Later - In the first one, you could overlook the story, because it was more about the mood, but in this one, it's just too much. Nothing new about the atmosphere or directing, but worse plot, not that great.
Shopgirl - Among the many actresses that I love, Claire Danes is pretty high up there, which is the only reason I got this. This was written by Steve Martin, who also acts in it, and his message is a little cheesy, but it's still a good movie.
Fahrenheit 9/11 - Don't really need to explain the movie or why I got it. Also, I didn't need to watch it to know that our president is a moron, but this just reinforced that idea. Good movie though.
Beckett - Great movie about being true to oneself and finding something to fight for. The story of King Henry II and his advisory, Thomas Beckett. Both actors, Peter O'Toole and Richard Burton, were nominated for Oscars.
High Noon - Movie dealing with whether sometimes you should run, or stand and fight. Plus it's a western, so you can't really go wrong.
Taxi Drive - same as Blade Runner, not really a great story, but a cult favorite. Awesome acting by De Niro, and great scenery and directing.
Both Resident Evils - Only reason I rented these was Milla Jovovich. And that is the only reason you should rent these too.
The Fifth Element - Same as above, except this one actually has a good plot, and interesting imagery and style. Chris Tucker turns this one from should rent to must see
Dog Day Afternoon - True story about a bank robbery gone wrong, with Pacino acting. Won an Oscar for screenplay, never gets boring.
Seven Samurai - The basis for The Magnificent Seven...where to begin? This movie invented and started so many things seen in movies today. Obviously, compared to today's movies, it's not that great, but I loved it. Among the many firsts, this movie had the reluctant hero, slow motion action sequences, a recruitment of a group of heros, among many other things. Great movie
Dial M For Murder - An under appreciated Hitchcock movie. You know what to expect here, suspense and intrigue, as a man tries to have his wife murdered.
Disturbia - For being a Rear Window knockoff, it wasn't too bad. The hot girl made it bearable.
Hamlet - This is the Branagh version, and really the only one that matters. This isn't for the faint of heart, since it is the entire play. Awesome vision and acting, and since it's my favorite Shakespeare play, this is also one of my favorite movies, and I would definitely recommend picking this up if you have the chance.
Fracture - Not a whole lot to this, a battle of wits between a man who apparently obviously committed a crime, and the prosecutor with a little baggage who tries to take him down. Too bad I figured out the solution to the plot twist the second it happened, but still, it was a pretty good movie.
I would like to conclude this blog by saying that BABEL IS THE BIGGEST PIECE OF SHIT MOVIE I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE. I would definitely NOT recommend it...

Amazing

Also, Ryan got a 56 out of 80 on that exam I told you about earlier, and raised his grade, almost to an A, from what I understand. In other news, there is no God.

Ohhh Ryan....
Just now, as Ryan was walking to take a shower, he asks me to "guess what". Obviously I have no clue, give the obligatory "I don't know, what" answer, and then get this little golden nugget. He took an exam today, in chemistry, knew 0 out of 40 questions, because he forgot the exam was today, and he had slept from 6 last night to 7 this morning. I asked him why he did that, he said he was keeping it real, I said that was stupid, and then he told me that sometimes keeping it real goes wrong. I guess that's a pretty accurate statement, so I just let it go after that. I just hope he's back here next semester...

I promise
New updates next week after finals are over. I'll go over with Scott and get all the stories posted, plus some stuff not related to our roommates that is interesting too.
Another little teaser, or I guess short story, actually. Will and Ryan went to Austin Friday night or Saturday morning, I forget which, after a pretty sweet party that I'll talk about later, and they got back today around 1, and the first thing that Will says is "I just sobered up about 30 minutes ago". Ridiculous. I've got more pics, got more stories, just need more time to type them all up. Read all the blogs in my list on the right in the meantime...
